Djokovic
Never thought I would write a review about tennis or any of its players. Novak has changed that.
Although I know Roger Federer, heard about Andy Murray, read about Rafael Nadal, and now watch Carlos Alcaraz, and Jannick Sinner… In Women’s Tennis, I have read about the great Billie Jean King, who in Sept. 1973 beat Bobby Riggs in the “Battle of the Sexes”, watched Serena and Venus Williams dominate the sport for the longest time. Today, I know World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, love Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina (who has just won the 2026 Australia Open against Aryna), Amanda Anisimova, Naomi Osaka (Fashion Queen and Tennis Champion), Taylor Townsend, Emma Raducanu and other Tennis big names.
Novak Djokovic (from the Men’s Tennis) inspires me with his level of play and the level of his form at his ripe age of 38. If we compared 38 to a person’s late teens, their twenties, or even their early thirties, most would believe that 38 was outright old! Last weekend however, Djokovic shocked the world when he progressed into the Australian Open (AO) Finals, against all odds, defeating Jannik Sinner; – a young man who is 14 years his junior and who was the current World No. 1, after almost five (5) hours of incredible play.
This leads me to the conviction that, all our limitations live inside our minds only. Anything is achievable when you dare to believe it, visualize it, go after it, work for it, work towards it with all you’ve got. Age is not a limitation in many cases. If you want it enough and dare to go after it, giving it everything you’ve got, then everything we want is well within our reach, whether we are younger or older.
38-year-old Djokovic just gave us a recent example. Think about it.
Wishing us all a happy and a safe week.
