Best Dressed Countdown

I am probably not the authority on clothes or fashion. I probably can’t tell the difference between a Gerry Webber and a Joseph Ribkoff jumpsuit, or between Zara and Aldo sandals. But we’ll get there! These days I can tell the difference between Primark and Monkii!! When it comes to the Coco Chanels, the Armanis, the CKs and the Dolces, umm… sometimes able, sometimes not-so-able. But I sure like to think that I got a good eye for pretty things.
Year 2025 has been rife with some of the finest fashion moments. Also, the ‘Awards’ Season has begun.
Cannes, MET Gala, AMVCA have already kicked off with some great fashion feats. It can only get better! Below are some of the pieces which made it to our best dressed list along with the celebs or persons who wore them and the designers if we can get the “deats”. MET Gala was themed: “ Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, with dress code, ‘Tailored for you’. These looks have been chosen based on how they appear to the eye, and how much on theme they appear to be. Nude numbers do not compete well.
Number 10. Iman Hammam
At Number 10, Iman is on theme for the MET Gala; respecting the theme by curating this look. White tailored suit, waist-fitted, wide legged pair of suit trousers of the same white suit material. She’s paired the look with a black shirt, polka dotted tie, pointy silver toe pumps, a black cane terminating with a silver handle, and a black and white fascinator/hat. She ate.
Number 9: Jenna Ortega in Balmain
This look is everything except it’s not so obvious whether it is on theme. Jenna looks almost immaculate in a dress made entirely of a tailor’s ruler. It’s shiny, it’s metallic, it’s electric! But is it on theme? We’ll let you answer.
Number 8: Mona Patel in Thom Browne
At number 8, Mona Patel opted for a custom suit, which infused both style and grace in a suit top complete with a cape, which also features a beaded corset bodice, and a skirt which parts to reveal a pair of trousers. The ensemble itself is dark, but the part reveals a white inner lining. She completed her look with an old style hat, a pair of black stiletto pumps and a fully robotic dog handbag, with a diamond leash!. Smoke it!! Mona Patel won.
Number 8: Andra Day in Jerome LaMaar
Tying at number 8, is Andra Day; a bold vision in pink, suited trousers with a train made of tobacco leaves., which were a reference to her ancestors. She complemented her look with voluminous Afro curls, and Cartier jewels. Pink wins.
At Number 6, Khaby Lame in Boss
Renowned TikTok sensation Khaby Lame made his MET Gala debut and was on theme in a custom-made grey suit by Boss. Complete with a waist coat with a striking array of pocket watches on his waistcoat, with a white tie on a white shirt.
Number 5: Teyana Taylor in Ruth E. Carter
Teyana came Taylor-ed in a burgundy and grey suit with unforgettable finesse: burgundy stripes, feathers, waist chains, waist coat jewellery, lace, flowers and crystals . Indeed, she left no grey area. Way to go Teyana T
Number 4: Jennie in Coco Chanel
Jennie looked elegant in an off-the-shoulder black satin jumpsuit with a layered skirt, a protruding white inner with a centered flowery-looking bow, two strands of pearls, jewelled buttons, with a black and white Boater Hat. Elegant and on theme, dress code respected! Applause !
Number 3: A$AP Rocky in AWGE
A$AP Rocky was arguably one of the best dressed at the 2025 MET Gala. Dressed on theme, dressed in a self-customised design by himself. Hair style check, jacket check, black wool necktie check, waist coat check, black shades check! Co-chair merit check.
Number 2: RiRi in Marc Jacobs
BadgalRIRI did not come to play. The Business mogul came stylishly announcing her third pregnancy in a custom Marc Jacobs ensemble featuring a cropped suit jacket, a wool bustier bodysuit, polka doted satin cravat and pocket square, and a wide brimmed fedora hat. With a growing baby bump as an additional accessory! Congratulations RiRi.
Number 1: Zendaya in Louis Vuitton
Zendaya pulled one of the best looks of the night (the best in our opinion) in her custom white Louis Vuitton Dandy black enigma fashion pieces which has led to her earning a position at number one for this present campaign!
No. 1 Manish Malhotra
Malhotra’s ensemble was graceful, silhouetted, manly, compelling and beautiful, a perfect intertwining of silver and golden Indian embroidery in the front, back and hands of his coat, white silk shirt, and a superhero cape.
