AMVCA 2025 Best Dressed Countdown

By Mena Ekua Feneba
Ever heard of AMVCA?
AMVCA stands for Africa Magic Viewer Choice Awards? First heard of it about two years ago, because I follow Fashion and saw Award-Winning Fashion Icon; Nana Akua Addo and Award-Winning Actress Jackie Appiah, feature on the AMVCA Red Carpet. It is an annual ceremony held in Nigeria for recognizing outstanding achievement in African film and television
This year’s AMVCA, held in Lagos showcased many Fashion Masterpieces which blended sophistication and style with intricate designs to illicit striking looks from talented yet often overlooked African Fashion Designers. Our Countdown gives all of us an idea of how Africa is doing as a Continent in the area of Fashion. So come with me…
Let’s start with the Ladies…
At Number 5. Idinma Okojie

At Number 5, Idinma Okojie’s dress forms a black silhouette against a beautiful chocolate dark skin. The rounded, exaggerated boat neck, infusing an off-the shoulder style presents a timeless elegance that is both sophisticated and alluring. Her minimalist jewellery is complimentary to the whole ensemble. Way to go
Also at Number 5. Mercy Aigbe

Tying at number 5 is Veekee James’ design of Mercy Aigbe’s (Literally) Sun and Moon dress! Veekee took high fashion a little (too?) far by having a perfectly fitting bodice of a dress showcasing the radiating Sun on a woman’s famous ‘oranges’. With a 3D moon and twinkling stars and starlets on a figure-hugging dress. The effect was a literal cosmic fusion curated by the powerhouse that is both Veekee James’ along with the one who won Best Supporting Actress on the AMVCA 2025 night.
At Number 4 Faith Morey

Faith Moree brings a whole fusion of diamonds and ice-blue crystals combined into a dashing ball gown, with sea blue ribbon embellishments at the waist and an exaggerated cape giving serious wicked stepmother royal elegance.
At Number 3. Riyah Abdul

This look is giving everything it’s supposed to give, it is sensual, it is sleek, and it is elegant. Predominantly lace with a beaded bodice. The Silver combining with white brings out its ethereal flavour making it ravishing to behold. The white enlarged flair-looking sleeves give it the enhancement needed to take things a notch higher. The white 3D flowers stitched from the hip to its flowing skirt, silhouette and train intertwined with subtle silver embroidery gives it an ethereal flower garden essence which is almost divine. A definitive Masterpiece!
Also at Number 3. Osas Ighodaro

Fashion Masterpieces are nothing new for Osas Ighodaro. So like she usually does, she brought another Fashion Masterpiece to the 2025 AMVCA: Veekee James designed, a literal tree with branches, creatively using ordinary bath towels to create a leafy green and tree bark effect. Osas’ makeup is subtle, hair simple, and the dress accentuates her form perfectly.
Number 2 Doyin David in Mamadi Couture

At Number 2, Doyin David gives off Tree of Life vibes in another Fashion Masterpiece. The dress is a figure-hugging ethereal forest breathtaking couture, showcasing a number of tap roots sending themselves down into the earth, with a green leaves’ effect for bodice, coordinated with leafy green earrings and necklace. Her brown skin against the perfect blend of green and brown is a stellar depiction of Mother Nature. If there is anything more than a Masterpiece, it is this look.
Also at Number 2 is Mercy Eke

Also at Number 2 is Mercy Eke who gives us a Crystal Explosion with intricate crystal beading, a picturesque crystalline halter neck, a well-fitted bodice and mesmerizing layered ball-gown design.
Number 1 Nana Akua Addo

At this point it is safe to say that Nana Akua Addo never disappoints when it comes to Fashion Masterpieces. Her AMVCA 2025 dress was a design collaboration by a Nigerian and an Indian. White in colour, scaly texture, figure-hugging, teasing, long, Futuristic – infused with technology. It took one year and a half to plan. The result: An Angelic Futuristic Gorgeous Tech Masterpiece. Genius.
On to the Men
Number 5 is Neo Akpofure

Neo Akpofure makes it to Number 5 with this flashy outfit, intricately adorned with pearl-like objects. His outfit makes it to this list for its boldness and unconventionality. His cornrowed hair cut is the icing on the cake.
Number 4 IK Osakioduwa

IK Osakioduwawas the host for AMVCA 2025. He was suited up, with white stripe-stitched designs on his polished black blazer, coupled with a traditional black tie and a white shirt. He stood out.
Number 3 Enioluwa Adeoluwa

Enioluwa’s suit is dripping in Swarovski crystals, offering a dazzling and elegant appearance. The suit is well-tailored and fits very well. He complements his look with pointy black shoes, a hat, and the use of crystals for a luxurious effect!!
Number 2 Mike Afolarin

At Number 2, Mike’s outfit is simple but his shoes are anything but! His shoes are very prominent and commanding. These shoes are a well-known trend among Gen-Zs. His standout footwear brings out his outfit’s dramatic flair and exudes lots of confidence in this outfit.
Number 1 Akin Faminu

Akin Faminu chose this unique suit adorned with floral embroidery on one sleeve and a stylish scarf replacing the traditional tie. His white lapel is also cool, not too clumsy. The white lapel contrasts brilliantly with the predominantly black apparel. His pants are also very modern and tailored to perfection, mostly the preference for most Gen Zs especially in Europe. The whole ensemble is well put-together. Congratulations Akin on finding yourself at Number 1!
And that’s how we end our AMVA 2025 Best Dressed Countdown
